About the practice

Babaji preparing herbs at the workshop by the sea

Why this shop exists.

Dokkan Babaji grew out of a broader practice — Kottab Babaji — the tree where I've worked with clients and students for years. The shop is the part of that work you can hold in your hands.

My workshop sits on the North Coast — by the sea, far from Cairo's congestion and pollution. I chose this on purpose for my living and working environment.

Every product is prepared by hand, in small batches. There is no production line. No staff. Just one person making things properly.

Making these products satisfies something specific in me — the work is part physical, part alchemical, demanding patience, which I actively cultivate, and precision, my innate quality which was honed and sharpened by my engineering background. This is also my way of making Ayurvedic knowledge tangible and available here in Egypt, where almost no one works with it at this depth.

This shop is one part of the wider practice — consultations, treatments, retreats, and the teaching and training — all rooted in the same tradition. More of it will find its place here in time. The products are simply where it begins.

A word on Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of health and wellbeing — thousands of years old, still practiced today, and thriving worldwide. The word means "the knowledge of life and living."

At its heart, it is an art of understanding your own body: what is happening inside it, what it needs, and what it doesn't. Through that understanding — which Ayurveda is remarkably good at helping you develop — it offers guidance. Not mystical advice; rational, natural guidance on how to bring your body and your life into a genuinely better balanced state.

It is not a trend, and it is not alternative. It may be the oldest system of healing there is.
