Triphala — in Sanskrit, tri means three, phala means fruits. This three-fruit preparation is one of the oldest formulas in Ayurveda, and one of the most widely used — owing to its profound effect on the three doshas and on the body's quiet inner work.

It is the formula reached for when the body's quiet systems begin to slow. When mornings come with heaviness instead of freshness. When digestion turns sluggish and elimination grows reluctant. When the skin loses its clarity, and the body asks, gently, to be cleared.

The preparation looks simple, but the work is demanding and unhurried. Each fruit is hand-picked, washed, sun-dried, and de-seeded — then ground fine and sifted. I add nothing — what goes into the bottle is the three fruits, which I source from India, and nothing else.

Take it daily — stirred into warm water in the evening, or in capsule form if you prefer — and let it work. Triphala is not a formula you reach for in moments of trouble. It is a daily companion, the kind that keeps the body's inner clockwork running clean — the way a water-well, when kept clear, keeps the water sweet, day after day, year after year.

Benefits

Triphala is considered in classical Ayurveda a formula one can take daily, for life — and the list of what it supports is long.

Tridoshic — it balances all three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Supports regular, complete elimination without dependency or weakening the bowel over time.

Supports the digestive tract and the elimination of Ama — the residue of incomplete digestion.

Naturally rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, plant polyphenols and tannins.

Traditionally, taken long-term to support longevity and graceful aging.

Traditionally associated with eye health and clarity of vision.

Supports the skin when dullness is linked to sluggish digestion.

Traditionally associated with hair strength and scalp health.

Triphala water is traditionally used as a mouth rinse supporting gum and oral tissue health.

Cautions

Not for use during pregnancy.

Discontinue during episodes of acute diarrhea.

Drink water throughout the day when taking it consistently.

Mild abdominal cramping or more frequent stools may occur in the first few days as the system adjusts — this usually settles on its own.

Consult your physician concerning the ingredients if you are taking other medicines.
